GOLDEN CHAIN AWARD
DISTRICT 18-D


Eligibility:

Every Lion/Lioness who completes the following requirements between May 1, 2009 and April 30, 2010 may win the Golden Chain Award each year he/she meets the qualifications. Check with the club secretary or District Web Site for the latest revisions in the requirements.

Requirements:

The Order of the Golden Chain contains two (2) equally important parts. Part I includes five (5) activities which are mandatory. Part II lists twenty-five (25) activities in which a Lion/Lioness may particiipate. To qualify, you must complete all five (5) mandatory activities in Part I and complete eleven (11) of the twenty-five (25) options in Part II.

PART I
The following activities are mandatory)

A. You must attend a minimum of 75% of the regular club meetings. Missed meetings may be made up by attendance at a local Board of Directors meeting or at meetings of other Lions/Lioness Clubs.

B. Sponsor a new member and help him or her become an active member.

C. Attend a local Board of Directors Meeting.

D. Be active as a local Committee Member.

E. Attend a Zone or Cabinet Meeting.

PART II
(Options - 11 of the 25 are required activities.)

1. Serve as an active local Chairman of an internal or external Committee.

2. Submit a complete plan for a new project to the local Board of Directors.

3. Serve as a local Officer or Director.

4. Report an acceptable article for publication covering an event or project of your club. Submit to local T.V., Radio, Newspaper, or District Bulletin.

5. Attend the Georgia Lions State Convention.

6. Attend the International Lions Convention.

7. Join the 10 Million Dollar Club - Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation.

8. Join the Century Club - Georgia Lions Camp for the Blind.

9. Attend the USA/CANADA Forum.

10. Attend the District Rally.

11. Attend a Zone or Cabinet Meeting, in addition to the mandatory activity in PART I.

12. Serve as a member of a successful Extension Team and make three (3) visitations within the qualification period.

13. Attend a work weekend at the Georgia Lions Camp for the Blind.

14. Work White Cane Day.

15. Serve as a District or State Chairman of a Committee.

16. Serve as a Cabinet Officer.

17. Sponsor a new member and help them become an active member. This requirement is in addition to the required new member in PART I.

18. Visit a regular membership meeting of another club as part of an Official Visitation Team. (Minimum of three (3) Lions on the visitation.)

19. Participate in the presentation of an Orientation Program.

20. Give Invocation or Benediction at a Lions meeting or lead the Club in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

21. Attend a Georgia Lions Lighthouse Board Meeting.

22. Attend a Georgia Lions Camp for the Blind Board Meeting.

23. Attend the District Convention.

24. Participate in an activity determined by the local Club.

25. Obtain 5 Eye Wills. Turn in to the Club Sight Conservation Chairman.
